Former Toyota Chief, Eiji Toyoda, Dead at 100

149551-500-0

The man responsible for establishing Toyota City, expanding Toyota’s operations overseas, the birth of the Lexus brand and the Toyota Prius dies at the age of 100.

Toyota has had number of chiefs over its 76-year history, but none ever served as long as Eiji Toyoda. The younger cousin of the company’s founder served as president of the automaker from 1967 to 1982 and as chairman of the Toyota Motor Corporation for another ten years following the unification of the manufacturing and sales divisions.

Even after his retirement in 1992, he remained an honorary chairman and close advisor to his successors, and chaired the company’s museum. He died of heart failure, ending a 100-year life that started on September 12, 1913, before the company that bore his family’s name (albeit slightly modified) had even started building automatic looms, let alone automobiles. We extend our condolences to the Toyoda family and our congratulations on an accomplished life.

UAE Boost: Lexus and Toyota Owners Meet

Last night was a humble but interesting attendance. The usual suspects were the stance’d Corollas with blacktops, several Lexus SC & the Porsche Boxster look alike MR2. The new faces included a completely unmolested stock Black Toyota Supra (perhaps the only one in the UAE), an eye catching Lexus GS with a set of Vossens, as you will see in the shots and a handful of Toyota 86.

Nostalgia: Lexus SC300/ Toyota Soarer

This car gained much more appeal after its production ended because of the tuning scene. Some regard it as a poor man’s Toyota Supra.

This was the first ever coupe from Lexus and it was aimed at cars like the Mercedes SL. The SC did manage an average success with sales figures reaching above 100,000 units in the US, according to some sources. Though the car was appreciated more as it aged and tuners soon started to swarm around it.

Stance'd Toyota Soarer/ Leuxs SC400

The Toyota Soarer or Lexus SC, is quite rich in character. The soap bar body shape sure make the Soarer look futuristic back in the days. Even by today’s standards the whole design does not feel outdated yet. Long wheelbase, quad headlamps, curved nose, long hood do exhibit the feel of a gangster luxury coupe; you could compare it to the Mercedes SL of that time.

Here is a set of shots for a beautifully stance’d Lexus SC400.

Fitted with 5 Spoke Black on Black WORK Equip (18×9 0/ 18×11.5 +3), a carbon fiber hood; this ride oozes with character and the bold n’ sexy lines of the SC sure did come to life after such treatment.

Enjoy!!

Stance'd Lexus IS

Slammed & Fitted Lexus IS (1)
The first Lexus IS might have paved the way for the current successful generation of IS. Though I find this one more charming and the reason for that is because it serves as a nice platform for modifications especially the visual ones.
I never was a fan of stance but it is undeniably part of life now and might as well enjoy it.
This is another Toyota saloon dropped and flushed; finished with a nice metallic Audi Brown. Enjoy the pictures & I hope you had a good weekend.
