*** UPDATED 23/07/13 – New Invoices and Toyota 86 Periodic Maintenance Check-Sheet are Now Uploaded ***
Several 86 owners are getting billed excessively and differently for the same type servicing interval. The Maintenance costs of the 86, by far, seem to exceed that of certain German cars which kills the purpose of it being an entry level sports car.
As a courtesy for 86 owners of the UAE, our members provide you with this compilation of personal experiences and data. We hope the following helps you figure out what you are paying for when your 86 goes to servicing, what oil grade to use and what you should replace during every service interval.
This year’s Tokyo Motor Show featured some really interesting concept cars from Nissan and Honda. The following concepts seem hint that there is still an appeal and interest in an entry level drivers’ car which is something we dearly miss these days. Nissan’s IDx Freeflow sends a strong message with its resemblance to the once reputable Datsun 510; while Honda’s Beat, seems to have grown a bit bigger than its Kei car origins.
For those who missed it, we headed for a special meet and drive in Abu Dhabi on a Friday morning to meet our AUH crew.
Stay tuned for future drives and events as winter is finally here!
Special Thanks to Teo and Massoud for the photos, you can check them out down here:
First of all, I would like to confess to the fact there was little to no activity on this blog for the past couple of months but its just that work, life and the fact some amazing club members left the UAE earlier this summer, just pushed me a bit away from this community.
Nevertheless I am back with some news and photos of the updated 2015 Subaru Impreza concept. Its good to see that Subaru is back in the scene, their cars are starting to look more distinct and original compared to what they used to offer, ever since the beginning of time.
Before you start complaining about why this is a ridiculous idea and why on earth would they approve a sedan variant while dropping the idea of a convertible version? Well, think about the bright side of having an 86 sedan. Remember the Datsun 510 or the BMW E30 sedans? Well you can think of this 4 door 86 as their modern alternative; a cheap, practical and a simple performance sedan. Plus, the wife is less likely to complain about it, the kids will probably like it and the insurance quote could go lower.
The 86, for the least, still remains loyal to the idea of being a ‘budget’ sports car. Though the price being proposed, initially, could probably be a bit too high but were not certain as we got the info from Australian sources:
Japanese car culture never fails to surprise, impress and inspire. There seems to be no boundaries with what statement you make with your car as it all makes sense over there. Thanks to Andreas for the share.
